Hello, KH1 !

Battery installed; smoke remained in place! All appears nominal!
Giving the battery its first full charge.

Every individual piece of the Edgewood package came separately packed, so a bit of assembly was needed; installing the battery and the log tray, mostly … putting the pen and whip into their clips finished the job. There it is. A complete radio station that will fit in my back pocket!

13.8 ounces! or 391 grams for my readers in metric lands!

I think I’ll want to set it up for no RF output and fiddle around with the paddle adjustments a bit before I try it out in the field. I’m glad that I printed up a few log sheets in advance. I somehow doubt that a single line per QSO will work for my messy and verbose logging style. Maybe I should pack a Rite-in-the-Rain notebook for all the extra details I like to include.

A view of the internals. That whole empty space gets filled by the battery pack. At the very top, spare ground nut and the hex wrench to adjust the paddles. Just below, left: power switch, 5.5×2.1 power inlet – right, socket for battery plug. Along the right side, looks like crystals, maybe the filter network? At the bottom, capacitors, inductors and relays of the autotuner.
The battery pack. 2.6 nominal amp-hours.

The weather looks pretty cold this weekend, with a chance of a few inches of snow tonight, but I’ll try to get outside for a while soon. Watch for a report!

And thank you for visiting driftlessqrp!
