2025 Field Day results are out!

Not a Field Day pic; this was a week or two ago when I was out in a park. Conditions were poor, zero contacts resulted. But what a pretty blue sky!

December QST arrived about a week ago (I still pay extra for the print version) and after reading the Elecraft KH1 review (more about this later) I browsed the rest of the magazine and much to my surprise, there were the Field Day results!

I scanned 1B – Battery – Single Op several times and failed to find my callsign !

So it was hi-ho over to arrl.org, where I was able to download a .csv file of the results. LibreOffice Calc (included in a full install of Linux Mint) opened the file without any difficulty, and as-received the file was ordered alphabetically by callsign – I scrolled down to line 3969 and there I was! all 290 glorious points on display for all to see!

QST was organized by category, then by score; I went back and looked where it should have been. Nothing. Next year I plan to gently bring this up with the Section Manager and the Central Division director when I run into them at hamfests … contrary to my remarks above I am not really in this for the fame and glory, I just think it’s kind of shoddy work from the publishing staff. Meh. What – ever.

Dense fog on a windless morning about 10 days ago; above a dam on the Lemonweir River, as the fog was clearing … sharp foreground, gray blur behind.
My usual vertical antenna, fully retracted; it’s hard to get the whole thing into a photograph when it’s all extended. The 18 foot telescopic radiator on top, the VersaTee and 1:1 balun, and the Buddipole mast and tripod.
