Clearing out spam comments from the blog’s inbox is a chore that I would prefer to avoid, but it has to be done from time to time … most of it is obvious trash or disguised invitations to download malware … the ones purporting to inform me that “you have received 1.3167 bitcoin, click here”, are particularly amusing. (yeah, I am so sure that some secret admirer has sent me 37 thousand dollars … ). Then there are the mysterious ones entirely in Cyrillic or Pinyin …
The alternatives seem to be:
turning off comments entirely
requiring registration and signin
paying money for Akismet anti-spam
none of which seem desirable.
Just for my own amusement I have held back a few that were flattering me in a slightly-broken-English sort of way, excised the links, and approved them.
